Academic Supports

Tutorials

After-school tutorials are offered Monday and Wednesday from 2:35-3:30 and other days by appointment.  Students also have the opportunity to get tutoring from their teachers during the school day during Trojan Time & Activity Time.  Tutorials are structured to help students who are struggling with key concepts.

Bridge Programs

Our ECHS Bridge Prgram is offered to incoming 9th & 10th graders. 

Prior to 9th grade year we focus on team building & campus expections. 

Prior to 10th grade year we focus on TSIA preparation.

Advising

  • 9th and 10th grade students meet with the SHHS ECHS counselor near the end of the fall semester for academic advising for the following school year.

  • 11th and 12th grade students meet with SHHS ECHS counselor near the end of the fall semester for academic advising to discuss South Houston specific classes for the following school year.
     

  • 11th grade students meet with the San Jac Educational Planners during both the fall and spring semesters to discuss their college GPA, academic standing, current college courses, and future college courses. The San Jac Educational Planners also advise students on what academic supports are offered at the college to support them.

  • 12th grade students meet with the San Jac Educational Planners during the fall semester to discuss their GPA, academic standing, current college courses, and final spring semester college courses. The San Jac Educational Planners also advise students on what academic supports are offered at the college to support them and to discuss with them what their plans are for after graduation

AVID

Students have their college course double blocked with AVID.  When they are not in college, they are in AVID.   AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a nonprofit college-readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college and beyond. 

AVID also supports Pasadena ISD’s mission to prepare all students to be lifelong learners with the district-wide “Portrait of a Graduate” invitative.

  • September 3, 2024 – South Houston High School Open House (5:00-7:00 PM)

  • September 18, 2024 – South Houston Early College Tailgate (2:35-4:30 PM)

  • September 18, 2024 – South Houston High School Red Rally (5:00-7:00 PM)

  • October 8, 2024 – Pasadena ISD Early College High School Informational Session (6:00 PM) at Pasadena Memorial High School

  • October 10, 2024 -  South Houston Early College Movie Night (2:35-4:00PM)

  • October 16, 2024 -  South Houston Early College Future Class of ‘29 Informational Session (6:00-7:00 PM)

  • October 30, 2024 - South Houston High School Trunk or Treat (5:00-7:00 PM)

  • November 1, 2024 – Guest speaker (DVM) during activity time

  • November 14, 2024 -  South Houston Early College Future Class of ‘29 Informational Session (6:00-7:00 PM)
